SUMMARY
Responsible for planning and organizing group activities outside of the Library. Encourages participation in all types of programs.

EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative only)
Plans and organizes programs, events, and activities around community interests outside of the Library.
Encourages the community to participate.
Documents community participation in group recreational programs outside of the Library.
Makes fliers, brochures, and handouts.
Maintains the activity storage area in a neat, clean manner. Picks up supplies after each activity and returns furniture to its original position.
Takes pictures of all programs for scrapbook.
Assists in helping with story hours for Summer Reading Program at headquarters branch when needed.
Helps prepare the large display unit at headquarters branch
Works front desk when needed
Answer phone
Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent GED. Some college education preferred. Must have at least one year’s experience in conducting group activities. Experience in working with all age groups preferred.

Able to lead and motivate people; excellent interpersonal skills
Good planning and organizational skills
Able to communicate well, both orally and in writing
Self-starter; able to carry out diverse duties with minimal supervision

Good computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Printshop, etc)

TECHNICAL SERVICES ASSISTANT (NON-EXEMPT)
SUMMARY
Assists the Technical Services Manager in classifying library materials, maintaining bibliographic and authority records, and providing support to the library’s circulation system.

Work is of average difficulty, requiring close supervision until job is learned, then only periodic supervision. Employee will assist the Technical Services Manager in developing sequences and methods within the scope of established policies.
EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative only)
Assist with classify, catalog, and input data for all library materials including books, periodicals, and digital resources
Assist with maintaining accurate bibliographic and authority records in the library’s database
Assist with collaborating with other librarians and staff to resolve cataloging and metadata issues
Assist with the library’s circulation system and resolve related issues
Assist with implementing and maintain cataloging procedures
Stay current with emerging cataloging standards and practices
Assist in the training of new library staff on cataloging procedures
Assist library users in navigating and using the catalog system
May assist with shelving materials
Performs all other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent GED. Some college education preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Experience in cataloging and knowledge of library cataloging systems
Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal System, and other classification methods
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Good knowledge of cataloging principles and procedures
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with library databases and cataloging software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
$14.00/hr
